Bared to you

Author Sylvia Day’s first book of the Crossfire series

Storyline: Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness… He was beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I’d never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily…

Okay, as with most of my books I have already read this book before but like all the others I wanted to give my fresh thoughts on it…I’m not gonna lie the story started out a tad creepy, Gideon definitely came across as a weird creepy stalker… But I’m happy that the book does actually acknowledge that his behaviour is creepy at the beginning, also no guy I’ve ever known talks like that – “you’re blushing, I’ve scandalized you.” – it just seems slightly unnatural. And makes the story seem cheesy but if you get past the fact that he talks like a scripted buffoon all the time – for some reason authors never seem to want to write what a guy would actually say because it would never be as ‘romantic’ – then the story isn’t actually that bad!! The main characters chemistry really is strong, and they both come from pretty emotionally and physically messed up backgrounds which has you rooting for their happiness!

Now the book does have some racy – and some weird sexual scenes that I doubt are even possible – so if your not into that type of book then this absolutely isn’t the series for you! But if you are then you’re in for a treat! This book seems to have it all, a bit of mystery with sexual tones and drama – oh the drama!! – it’s quite a thrilling read! I’d highly recommend it!

I give this book

  1. Thank you for admitting to his creepiness! Lol. I actually never got over the creep factor with Gideon. I feel like I’m the only person I know who absolutely hated this book. I thought the writing, while better written than 50 shades, was still poorly done. To me a lot of the sex scenes were actually ridiculous (and I read a lot erotica so that’s saying something). I kept waiting for the book and storyline to get better and for me they never did. This was one book that I was super pissed I payed for but I didn’t return it to Amazon because I think that’s basically stealing once you’ve read the entire book. For me this was a 2 star book only because I don’t believe in 1 star reviews.

    1. Lol I could kind of get over a lot of the creepiness, and the staged sound of Gideon’s monologues and I didn’t think the story line was too too bad -I’ve read way worse! -the thing I couldn’t get over was the sex scenes!! He would be ready to go ALL THE TIME!! And then it would be like literally two thrusts and he’d be done.. Then he’d be ready to go RIGHT AWAY! And not only once more like all night more…Like seriously!! Lol that was just weird as heck to me

      1. It really was! Sometimes when I read books like this I think to myself, “what kind of sex life does this writer experience”? Lol
