The Second book in the Ruby Red Trilogy by Kerstin Gier
Storyline: Gwen’s life has been a rollercoaster since she discovered she was the Ruby, the final member of the secret time-traveling Circle of Twelve. In between searching through history for the other time-travelers and asking for a bit of their blood (gross!), she’s been trying to figure out what all the mysteries and prophecies surrounding the Circle really mean. At least Gwen has plenty of help. Her best friend Lesley follows every lead diligently on the Internet. James the ghost teaches Gwen how to fit in at an eighteenth century party. And Xemerius, the gargoyle demon who has been following Gwen since he caught her kissing Gideon in a church, offers advice on everything. Oh, yes. And of course there is Gideon, the Diamond. One minute he’s very warm indeed; the next he’s freezing cold. Gwen’s not sure what’s going on there, but she’s pretty much destined to find out.
Crazy how fast the timeline for this book is. it’s been less than a week for the characters in the book but it feels like so much happens in such a short span of time! I mean it’s jam packed full of action and mystery because of the whole going back in time thing so that’s probably why it seems to zoom by. These books are so fun to read, there’s so many little loose ends that tie together. and there are parts that both make you so confused, and yet intrigued. I’m excited to see how things that happened in the future will happen in the past –which doesn’t seem to make sense, but believe me.. it does– this book kept me on my toes and I basically literally couldn’t put it down, hence the fact that it only took me two days to read. I love everything about these books so far! The characters are so loveable and you can’t help but get so attached to them. There’s still secrets that need to be revealed and questions that need to be answered and I can’t wait to get to them!! I highly suggest you read them. But be warned…They’re major cliffhangers –which is annoying– so if you start the first book I suggest having all three handy and ready to go.
I rate this book
