In a Dark, Dark Wood

A Novel by Ruth Ware

Storyline: What should be a cozy and fun-filled weekend deep in the English countryside takes a sinister turn in Ruth Ware’s suspenseful, compulsive, and darkly twisted psychological thriller. Sometimes the only thing to fear…is yourself. When reclusive writer Leonora is invited to a hen party in an eerie glass house deep in the English countryside, she reluctantly agrees to make the trip. But as the first night falls, revelations unfold among friends old and new and a haunting realization creeps in—they are not alone in the woods. Forty-eight hours later, Nora wakes up in a hospital bed injured but alive, with the knowledge that someone is dead. Wondering not “what happened?” but “what have I done?” she tries to piece together the events of the past weekend. Working to uncover secrets, reveal motives, and find answers, Nora must revisit parts of herself that she would much rather leave buried where they belong: in the past.

Okay.. so I thought this book was quite good..I think the story dragged on a bit longer than necessary. Especially in the middle, the middle part felt super slow! The plot was good but I kinda saw things coming, I had my suspicions of what happened and I was partially right so it overall wasn’t a huge surprise when the surprises were ‘revealed’ ..It wasn’t really a crime/Thriller as it was described. But it kinda actually had more of a PLL (Pretty Little Liars) vibe i felt, which was kinda fun. Although it was supposed to be grown women and not highschool type drama, so that whole thing I wasn’t a fan of. But the story was intriguing to read. and something kept me just intrigued enough to keep me wanting to read more and kept me from being bored.. I’m not sure how I felt. But I’m pretty sure I actually liked the book! Lol such mixed emotions I’m feeling right now! I’d recommend it (not as a thriller though)

I rate this book

7/10
