This Is What Happy Looks Like

A Novel by Jennifer E. Smith

Description: If fate sent you an email, would you answer? When teenage movie star Graham Larkin accidentally sends small town girl Ellie O’Neill an email about his pet pig, the two seventeen-year-olds strike up a witty and unforgettable correspondence, discussing everything under the sun, except for their names or backgrounds. Then Graham finds out that Ellie’s Maine hometown is the perfect location for his latest film, and he decides to take their relationship from online to in-person. But can a star as famous as Graham really start a relationship with an ordinary girl like Ellie? And why does Ellie want to avoid the media’s spotlight at all costs?

This book… is the epitome of a perfect summer read! It was a super standard romcom, a lifetime or hallmark movie into the style of a book. You could honestly see where it was headed by page 20. It starts off with a bunch of fun emailing back and forth format but I would have loved if the rest of the book had more of it throughout. But either way, the guy accidentally emailed the wrong address (added an extra 2 to the email) and a funny email mix up turns into a email friendship/relationship of sorts. So when he makes his way to meet her she’s shocked to see who he really is and then she has conflicting emotions about dating the worlds most famous teenage heartthrob. It’s funny, cute and romantic… it’s not very realistic in the least but I think that’s the appeal of these books. This would make an excellent beach read! I really enjoyed it!

I rate this book
