Sweet Possession

The Fifth book in the Sweet series by Maya Banks

Description: She’s a singer who lives for the spotlight—and she can’t resist her adoring fans. Outrageous and out of control, Lyric Jones is a spoiled pop star who lives hard and fast, always outrunning her past and the nightmares that haunt her. She’s used to getting what she wants—groupies included—because she can’t stand to be alone. So in bed it’s more the merrier, even if it means closing off the deepest part of herself. He’s a hands-on bodyguard—and a one-woman man. There is nothing Connor Malone wants to do less than babysit Lyric Jones. But part of him relishes taming the wild songstress and showing her what it’s like to be possessed—body and soul—by one man. And though Lyric’s crazy antics nearly drive Connor to the edge, his quiet intensity penetrates her defenses, leaving them both vulnerable to the secrets that could topple Lyric from the stage.

Okay so only after reading this book did I find out it was a fifth book in a series so that made a lot more sense as to why I was confused at times… I’ve read a Maya Banks series before (Rush, Fever, Burn) and hot damn! But this time it was so meh. It was just a romance book! There was no supper sexy and kinky shit happening, it was just plain milk ice cream type of stuff.. I’m not even gonna call it vanilla, because even vanilla is a flavour. I went into this book expecting sexy but I didn’t get that. The characters were just so bland and horrible, which makes me not even want to read the first four. I felt like there was a little bit of mystery thrown in, but that could have just been the confusion of me diving in at the fifth book. (I really should have researched that first) note to self, make sure books you think are stand alones aren’t part of a series. Either way…it was meh, not what i was expecting.

I rate this book
