A Game of Thrones

The First book in The Song of Ice and Fire series by George R. R. Martin

Description: In a Game of Thrones, George R. R. Martin has created a genuine masterpiece, bringing together the best the genre has to offer. mystery, intrigue, romance, and adventure fill the pages of the first volume in an epic series sure to delight fantasy fans everywhere. In a land where Summers can last decades and winters a lifetime, trouble is brewing. the cold is returning, and in the frozen wastes to the north of Winterfell, sinister and supernatural forces are massing beyond the kingdom’s protective wall. At the center of the conflict lie the Starks of Winterfell, a family as harsh and unyielding as the land they were born to. Sweeping from a land of brutal cold to a distant summertime kingdom of epicurean plenty, here is a tale of lords and ladies, soldiers and sorcerers, assassins and bastards, who come together in a time of grim omens. Amid plots and counterplots, tragedy and betrayal, victory and terror, the fate of the Starks, their allies, and their enemies hangs perilously in the balance, as each endeavors to win the deadliest of conflicts: the Game of Thrones.

I have been wanting to dive into this series for awhile now, but the few people I have talked to said that these books were boring and tedious, which gave me a bit of pause and made me delay reading them for so damn long. But I’ve really been missing the tv show and needed some game of thrones in my life and decided enough was enough and that I was going to try them out for myself…And as I expected, I loved it! I was surprised that there weren’t that many storyline differences from the show (yet) Aside from drastic character description differences… I didn’t find it as hard to read as people were saying, yes there’s a lot of characters but I found it easy enough to follow, maybe because I watched the show first? after diving into this book I found myself more in love with these characters than I already had been. And I can’t wait to continue the series, I loved being immersed in all the drama, the fights, the manipulation and just all of it! If you haven’t read this series yet (or seen the show) what’s wrong with you? Lol kidding, kind of… but seriously I do highly recommend this book.

I rate this book
