A Storm of Swords

The Third book in The Song of Ice and Fire series by George R. R. Martin

Synopsis: Of the five contenders for power, one is dead, another is disfavor, and still the wars rage, as alliances are made and broken. Joffrey sits on the Iron Throne, the uneasy ruler of the seven kingdoms. His most bitter rival, Lord Stannis, stands defeated and disgraced, victim of the sorceress who holds him in her thrall. Young Robb still rules the north from the fortress of Riverrun. Meanwhile, making her way across a blood-drenched continent is the exiled queen, Daenerys, mistress of the only three dragons left in the world. And as opposing forces maneuver for the final showdown, an army of barbaric wildlings arrives from the outermost limits of civilization, accompanied by a horse or mythical others – a supernatural army of the living dead whose animated corpses are unstoppable. As the future of the land hangs in the balance, no one will rest until the seven kingdoms have exploded in a veritable storm of swords…

This series makes me so happy, I love being in this world so much! I’ve been trying to pace myself and read as slow as possible because I’ve been told that I’ll want to take my time with the series so I don’t catch up too quickly and have to wait a billion years for the next ones.

The ages in this book are so crazy! It just baffles my mind, Arya is 10! My daughter is 10 just imagining the characters as kids as young as mine is just so intense and so baffling

Things are definitely starting to divert from the show, there’s quite a few things that are much, much different now..I’m not hating it, just stating facts that I now see where people have been telling me that it was quite different. Honestly though I’m kind of happy that it’s not totally the same at times, it’s been keeping me on my toes!

I will say I was a little disappointed at the red wedding scene. It wasn’t nearly as bloody and gruesome as in the show!! I was mildly disappointed by how different that part was because I assumed that the book would be a million times more intense, since it had the potential to be (and since I heard it was super intense).

I think this one may have been my favourite so far, which is saying a lot since I really loved the other two also, but this one just had so much going on, the story really started picking up and shits getting more real and intense as time goes on, the story is getting so tangled within itself and it’s honestly just such an impressive book to read.

I have no clue how the author was able to write such an intricate story! I realize it takes him a long ass time to write one of these books, but I totally get why. The storyline entangles on itself, keeping track of where everyone is at any given time while also making them run into each other and intermingle into each others stories. It’s such a masterpiece of work. So I get why it takes ten years for a new book. And as long as I get to read the last two at some point, I will be happy!

Love love loved this book. Highly recommend this series

I rate this book
