Storyline: Everyone knows the cool beans. They’re sooooo cool. And then there’s the uncool has-bean…Always on the sidelines, one bean unsuccessfully tries everything he can to fit in with the crowd—until one day the cool beans show him how it’s done.
Thoughts from an eight-year-old:
I liked the pictures! They were fun, all the cute different types and shapes and colours of beans! I didn’t know there were so many kinds of beans! I also liked that there were words in the art that made the pictures pop even more! It was fun how at the beginning the bean didn’t feel like he was worth anything but at the end he knew he was something! It was a really good thing that he found out he was such a special bean! I thought the cool beans were going to be meant to him or something but they were actually nice. Which is even cooler than being mean!
My daughter really enjoyed this book, while I was reading it to her she made me stop so we could admire the illustrations a few times which are fun and witty with a lot of bean puns thrown in! The story is fun and I loved the message that It’s cool to be nice! It was a sweet book that teaches kids that it’s not what you wear or how you look or what you do that makes you cool, it’s how you treat others and how kind you are that makes you a cool bean. There weren’t actually a lot of words, I expected there to be more of a longer story with how big the book is but overall it’s a good book with a nice message. I would recommend this book!
I rate this book
8/10 for story and 9/10 for illustrations
